Saint Gregory Barbarigo
Saint Gregory Barbarigo was an Italian bishop, cardinal, educator, and reformer of the Church. He is remembered for his deep holiness, dedication to education, care for the poor, and faithful implementation of the reforms of the Council of Trent.
Early Life
Born on September 16, 1625, in Venice.
Came from a noble Venetian family.
Received an excellent education and developed a strong spiritual life from a young age.
Service to the Church
Ordained a priest in 1655.
Appointed Bishop of Bergamo in 1657.
Later became Bishop of Padua in 1664, where he served for the rest of his life.
Created a cardinal by Pope Alexander VII in 1660.

Founded and improved seminaries to ensure proper formation of priests.
