Prayer to St. Eutychius, Patriarch of Constantinople God, You made ST. Eutychus an outstanding exemplar of Divine love and the Faith that conquers the world, and added him to the roll of saintly pastors. Grant by his intercession that we may persevere in Faith and love and become sharers in his glory. Amen. St. Eutychius, Patriarch of Constantinople Born in Phrygia about 512, Euthychius became a monk at Amasea in Pontus after having been ordained a priest. While on a mission for his Bishop in Constantinople in 552, he was consecrated Bishop of Constantinople at the behest of Emperor Justinian I. The Saint presided, along with the Patriarch of Alexandria and Antioch, at the Fifth Ecumenical Council in 553, which was unable to hold back the onrush of the Monophysite heresy. Some time later, Eutychius butted heads with the Emperor himself by resisting Justinian’s desire to be an arbiter in theological matters. കര്‍ത്താവായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുന്നില്‍ നില്‍ക്കുന്ന ഏഴു മാലാഖമാരി ല്‍ ഒരാളാണ് വി. ഗബ്രിയേല്‍ മാലാഖ. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സന്ദേശവാ ഹകരാണ് മാലാഖമാര്‍. ബൈബിളില്‍ മാലാഖമാരെപ്പറ്റി പല ഭാഗ ത്തും പറയുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും മിഖായേല്‍, ഗബ്രിയേല്‍, റാഫേല്‍ എന്നി വരുടെ മാത്രമേ പേര് പറയുന്നുള്ളു. ഇവര്‍ മൂന്നു പേരും പ്രധാന മാലാഖമാര്‍ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. പഴയനിയമത്തിലും പുതിയ നിയമ ത്തിലും പലതവണ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുന്ന മാലാഖയാണ് ഗബ്രിയേല്‍. 'ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ശക്തന്‍' എന്നാണ് ഗബ്രിയേല്‍ എന്ന വാക്കിന്റെ അര്‍ഥം. നാലു തവണ വി. ഗബ്രിയേല്‍ ബൈബിളില്‍ പരാമര്‍ശിക്കപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. പഴയനിയമത്തിലെ ദാനിയേലിന്റെ പുസ്തക ത്തില്‍ രണ്ടു തവണയും പുതിയ നിയമത്തില്‍ രണ്ടു തവണയും. വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന രക്ഷകനെ ക്കുറിച്ച് ദാനിയേല്‍ പ്രവാചകനെ അറിയിക്കുന്നത് ഗബ്രിയേല്‍ ദൈവദൂതനായിരുന്നു. (ദാനിയേല്‍ 8:16-26; 9:21) പുതിയനിയമത്തില്‍ സ്‌നാപകയോഹന്നാന്റെ ജനനവും യേശുവിന്റെ ജനനവും അറിയിക്കുന്നതും ഗബ്രിയേല്‍ മാലാഖയാണ്. സ്‌നാപകയോഹന്നാന്റെ ജനനവാര്‍ത്ത ഗബ്രിയേല്‍ മാലാഖ പിതാവായ സക്കറിയായെ അറിയി ക്കുന്ന സംഭവം ലൂക്കായുടെ സുവിശേഷത്തില്‍ വായിക്കാം. വൃദ്ധയായ തന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഒരു കുഞ്...
