നവംബര്‍ 16 : അസീസിയിലെ വി. ആഗ്നസ് (1197-1253)

വിശുദ്ധരായ സഹോദരിമാരില്‍ ഒരാളാണ് ആഗ്നസ്. സഹോദരി വിശുദ്ധ ക്ലാരയും (ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 12ലെ വിശുദ്ധ) ആഗ്നസും ചേര്‍ന്ന് രൂപം കൊടുത്ത ക്ലാരസഭ ഇന്ന് ലോകം മുഴുവന്‍ പടര്‍ന്നുകിടക്കുന്ന സ ന്യാസസമൂഹമാണ്. വി. ഫ്രാന്‍സീസ് അസീസിയാണ് (ഒക്‌ടോബര്‍ നാലിലെ വിശുദ്ധന്‍) ഇരുവര്‍ക്കും വഴികാട്ടിയായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചത്. ഇറ്റലിയിലെ അസീസിയിലുള്ള ഒരു പ്രഭുവിന്റെ മൂന്നു പെണ്‍മക്കളാ യിരുന്നു ക്ലാര, ആഗ്നസ്, ബെയാട്രിസ് എന്നിവര്‍. ബാല്യകാലം മുതല്‍ തന്നെ ക്രൈസ്തവ വിശ്വാസത്തിലാണ് ഈ കുട്ടികള്‍ വളര്‍ന്നുവന്നത്. വിശുദ്ധ ഫ്രാന്‍സീസ് അസീസിയുടെ പ്രസംഗങ്ങളില്‍ ആകൃഷ്ടയായി ക്ലാരയാണ് ആദ്യം ദൈവ വഴി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തത്. മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ എതിര്‍പ്പിനെ വകവയ്ക്കാതെ അവള്‍ സന്യാസ ജീവിതം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ക്കുള്ളില്‍ ആഗ്നസും ക്ലാരയ്‌ക്കൊപ്പം ചേര്‍ന്നു. ഇതോടെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ അസ്വസ്ഥരായി. അവര്‍ മഠത്തിലെത്തി ആഗ്നസിനെ പിടിച്ചു വലിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുപോകാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍, എല്ലാവരും ചേര്‍ന്ന് വലിച്ചിട്ടും അവളുടെ ശരീരം ഒരു അടി പോലും നീക്കാനാവാത്തവിധം ഭാരമേറിയതായി മാറി. അവളെ മര്‍ദ്ദിക്കുവാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ച അമ്മാവന്‍ മൊണാള്‍ഡോയുടെ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ ഒരു ഭാ
