ഡിസംബര്‍ 2 : വി. ബിബിയാന (നാലാം നൂറ്റാണ്ട്)

ഭാഗ്യമരണം എന്നു പറയാറുണ്ട്. ഏറ്റവും ഭാഗ്യമുള്ള മരണമേതാണ്? നൂറു വയസുവരെ ജീവിച്ച്, മക്കളെയെല്ലാം സാക്ഷിയാക്കി, വേദന യൊന്നും അനുഭവിക്കാതെ ഉറക്കത്തിലേക്കു വീഴുന്ന പോലെ ഒരു മരണം. അതാണോ? അല്ല. ഒരു യഥാര്‍ഥ ക്രൈസ്തവ വിശ്വാസി യുടെ ഭാഗ്യമരണം യേശുവിനു വേണ്ടിയുള്ള മരണമാണ്. തനിക്കു വേണ്ടി കുരിശില്‍ പീഡനങ്ങളേറ്റു വാങ്ങി മരിച്ച യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനു വേണ്ടി പകരമായി ചെയ്യാവുന്ന ഏറ്റവും വലിയ കാര്യം. ആദ്യ നൂറ്റാ ണ്ടുകളില്‍ യേശുവിനു വേണ്ടി രക്തസാക്ഷികളുടെ എണ്ണം കൃത്യമായി പറയുക വയ്യ. അത്രയ്ക്ക് ഏറെയുണ്ട് അവരുടെ സംഖ്യ. ഇവരില്‍ വളരെ കുറച്ചുപേരെ മാത്രമേ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരുടെ പട്ടികയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തി നമ്മളിപ്പോള്‍ സ്മരിക്കാറുള്ളു. ക്രിസ്തുവിനു ശേഷം അഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടുവരെ റോം ഭരിച്ചിരുന്ന ചക്രവര്‍ത്തിമാരില്‍ ഏറെപ്പേരും ക്രൈസ്തവ വിരോധികളായിരുന്നു. റോമിന്റെ പ്രവശ്യകള്‍ ഭരിച്ചിരുന്ന ഗവര്‍ണമാരിലും മതമര്‍ദ കര്‍ ഏറെയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ജൂലിയാന്‍ ചക്രവര്‍ത്തിയുടെ കാലത്ത് ഇങ്ങനെ രക്തസാക്ഷിത്വം വരിച്ച ഫïാവിയന്‍ എന്നും ഡഫ്രോസ എന്നും പേരുള്ള ദമ്പതികളുടെ മകളായിരുന്നു ബിബിയാന. മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെടുകയും അവരുടെ സ്വത്ത് കണ്ടുകെട്ടുകയും ച...
